"The Nightingale and t...Ooh, very interesting! "The Nightingale and the Rose" seems to pursue the same theme that I identify in Wilde's other fairy tales, one of selflessness and ethical responsibility to the Other. However, I like that you bestow it with another element: love. Certainly, it is out of love that the other protagonists of Wilde's fairy tales do their selfless deeds, but it seems to be in this tale that that connection is made explicit.
